Porcelain Veneers and Lumineers®
Porcelain veneers and Lumineers® are among the most effective cosmetic dentistry services the office of William J. Holevas offers. If you suffer from damaged, discolored or misshapen teeth, you are a candidate to receive porcelain veneers or Lumineers®. This treatment is even an alternative to traditional braces. To improve your smile, we bond thin layers of durable porcelain to your teeth. Within one or two visits, you can have beautiful veneers that function and look just like your natural teeth.
What are Porcelain Veneers?
Veneers are a permanent treatment to misshapen or damaged teeth that function just like your natural teeth. These thin layers of porcelain bond directly to the surface of your teeth and are custom-made in our dental clinic. Before applying veneers to your natural teeth, we create an exact mold of each tooth to ensure your veneers fit your mouth properly. During the following appointment, our cosmetic dental team attaches the veneers with special bonding fluid.
How are Lumineers® Different?
Lumineers® are a special brand of dental veneer made of patented Cerinate porcelain. They are thinner than traditional veneers and don’t require enamel to be removed for application. This means we can usually complete your cosmetic dentistry treatment in only one visit. Lumineers® can also be replaced or removed with little trouble. Whether you choose traditional porcelain veneers or advanced Lumineers®, we are confident that you will be amazed at the results.
Aftercare for Veneers and Lumineers®
Veneers and Lumineers® vary in thickness, but both require some special attention at home. Careful brushing with non-abrasive toothpaste and flossing daily are the most important ways to care for your new Lumineers®. Be extra careful when cleaning the spaces where the veneers meet the gum line and the spaces between your teeth, as these can be hiding places for plaque and bacteria. While veneers don’t stain easily, we recommend limiting your consumption of foods and liquids such as coffee, dark tea, wine and red sauce, and should never bite or chew on hard items such as ice or pens. Finally, make sure you keep up your regular dental maintenance and cleaning visits. Our dental staff will generally polish the veneers with special paste during these visits. Porcelain veneers and Lumineers® can last for up to 20 years.
